TFS Version Control accessible from VS 2003 after Beta 3
Brian harry writes in his blog entry about the new features and improvements that have come with Beta 3. One thing that I hadn’t noticed yet is that there now will also be support for VS2003 to use the new Version Control environment.
VS6 MSSCCI provider – We’ve built a plugin that allows the Team Foundation Server version control functionality to be accessed from VS6 the same way SourceSafe can be. We are working on getting this to work with VS 2003 as well but we have not plans to make it work with VS 2002.
I think this is a big plus for TFS, as lots of customers already asked me questions along those lines. The thing is, people are not going to migrate everything they have in production within 3 seconds to .NET 2.0. There needs to be a business purpose and time in the schedule to do that. However moving from VSS to an Enterprise level source control system is something that a lot of customers needed already.
