Windows Vista RC1 now available

I just posted this blog post from my clean installed Windows Vista RC1 desktop. I Just got the news from Microsoft connect, that you can download the RC1 of windows Vista. Last week I already downloaded and installed the pre-RC1 version (build 5536) an I must say that it felt way more stable then the previous builds I got. I was able to use it for editing my documents in Office 2007 and I was able to browse the Internet without any real blocking problems. Now the RC is installed I think I will take the risk and start using the vista OS as my production environment. Meaning I will have my family start using it and run games on it as well. I have Sunday to tell my son how he needs to use the new OS, but I think it will only take a few moments for him to click on the security icons to get his favorite game up and running again. b.t.w. it is amazing to see how many simple games require admin privileges just because of stupid programming of the game developers. I think it will take quite some time for the game developer community to start building their app's to run without all kinds of security dialogs popping up in the vista OS.

b.t.w. As a developer I must say it is interesting to see the nice rounded build number the RC1 got :-). I guess the deliberately bumped the build number to 5600. I don't expect it really took exactly 64 builds between the Pre-RC1 from last week and the version they released now.
