Back home again, what did PDC bring me?
So PDC is over and I am back to work again. But what did PDC bring me?
Well I must say that I can recap PDC as being pretty overwhelming in regards of new stuff presented to me. I thought I was always keeping up with Microsoft Technology pretty well. I must say that this year in particular I have the Idea that Microsoft has been innovative as ever before. In the past you most of the time got a preview of some new API’s and that was it. But if you take a look at what Microsoft is doing with his LINQ project and the new stuff that is brought to us with ATLAS in regard to AJAX style programming on the web, I must say I am impressed. They take a lot of effort to make things easy for us and make us more productive on the windows platform.
If I must recap the PDC in a few terms of technology that I need to investigate more, I would say:
Windows Workflow foundation
Atlas
LINQ (DLINQ and XLINQ)
Windows Communication Foundation (previously code named Indigo)
Windows Presentation foundation (previously code named Avalon)
The coming weeks I will be busy with my colleagues to create a two day training that we will redeliver to our fellow colleagues at Info Support. We will redeliver training on the technologies mentioned and I will take the Workflow and Atlas stuff as my focus point. Perhaps we might provide this training external in the future, but for now we want to make sure our fellow consultants are up to date as well.
