More news from Websphere and RAD 7
Websphere-World reports a few new interesting items from IBM. First is an article about the improved security features in Websphere 6.1. Lots of good news in this department. Finally some security is enabled by default, integrated Windows authentication just works now without the additional tricks required in the past. Last but certainly not least, the evil IKeyMan certificate tool is no longer needed for most options! Definately good news because IKeyman is really terrible.
On another note some more news on Rational Application Developer 7 popped up (yes there is no RAD 6.1, it will be 7 instead). Like expected RAD 7 will be based on Java 5 and Eclipse 3.2 and will provide the support for the new Websphere products. The release date of Q4 this year is a bit late. WAS 6.1 is out now and Portal 6 will be soon as well, while WSAD 5.1 support will end in September. Hopefully, RAD 7 will be worth the wait…
