Subversion 1.3 released

A new year, a new version for Subversion, the “compelling replacement for CVS in the open source community”. Version 1.3 brings some nice enhancements, such as path authorization for the stand-alone server and the improved logging options for the Apache module.

A big improvement for the .NET users out there though is official support for the “ASP.NET _svn hack”. Subversion uses hidden “.svn” subdirectories to store client information. Unfortunately, this causes problems when using Web Projects in Visual Studio.NET, because for some weird reason, no subdirectories are allowed that start with a period (.). The _svn hack used to be an work-around in the TortoiseSVN client, but now you can use plain Subversion, too. Very nice!

Note that this is still only a source release, the binary install packages (setup.exe) will be around in a week or so.
