SuperFetch and ReadyBoost

are two processes that MAY speed up your system. If you do not want to use the memory in your system, you could use unused space on USB memory sticks for caching. (you need at least 230 MB free on the stick) If you enter the stick and check the properties of it, it will ave a tab ReadyBoost. On this tab You can tune how much space of this stick you want to use for boosting the speed of your system. I assume that you will need the Superfetch service to make use of this feature. (at least if you look at the name of the file on the device when you enable this feature (see the second screenshot.)

I am curious how my vista will react if I just pull out the USB Stick when using this feature, how will my vista for instance react if my machine starts hibernating WITH a stick and comes back from hibernation without the stick. in short< I have just planned my day for the coming hours…

I’ll get back to you about this.
