The word is out, Team system ships Nov 7 but TFS Q1 next year

So finally the lit is of this thing. An official statement is now out in the open. Microsoft will ship the client version of the Team system tools in November, but you have to wait until (probably end of) Q1 next year until you can start using the server features that are now better known as Team Foundation Server (TFS). So what does this mean?

Well, you can start of using all the Team Architect designers, The developer tools like Class designer; unit testing; Coverage; Static and dynamic code analysis and the Load, Stress and Web test tools.

You will have to wait until you can use the team foundation stuff. TFS includes the new Source control system, The Portal site, Data warehouse, Work Item Tracking and the Team Build environment. Well you would need to wait if you want to work with the released version of the product. There will be a Beta 3 version of TFS available and the good news is Microsoft will provide upgrade support for the RTM version. So if you can live with the B3 version you can already leverage this great platform. Working with the latest bits during the devlab made me pretty confident that B3 is the thing we will wait for, and then we will use it for production already. Because we get the Go live licenses and the upgrade support, I am very confident that it works pretty well. I have already seen some incredible performance improvements in the July CTP and Microsoft is extensively dog fooding this internally. Take a look at the statistics.
